The SoundTools DMX Sniffer and Senders are ‘On the fly’, highly reliable, DMX cable testers with remote ends used in the field to quickly determine faulty DMX XLR cables and for testing DMX connections at various stages and locations.
PLEASE NOTE: AS PINS 4 AND 5 ARE RARELY USED, THE DMX SNIFFER/SENDER HAS NO CONNECTION ON PIN 4 AND 5 AND WILL NOT TEST PINS 4 AND 5.
The DMX version works just like the audio version. Plug the sender into the male end of the chain, the sniffer into the female end and look at the lights. Three greens means all is well. Any combination of red and green means there’s a problem and you consult the chart to figure out what it is.
Note: 5-Pin DMX and 3-Pin Audio sniffer/senders can work together.
